Gegana Brimob is a special Police Force which has the task of handling the high-intensity crime, a crime which using of firearms and explosives even highly activities of anarchy. Gegana are dealing with that case. They were highly trained so they are the expert subject matter in the operation field. So no doubt The Gegana Troops are ready to implementation their skill in high intensity law enforcement, because they were trained for critical situation.

Gegana established on 1976s as a result of aircraft hijacking incident in Australia, on 1974.to anticipate the impact of those incident. Based Decree of Kapolda Metro Jaya latter No. Pol : Skep/29/XI/1974 tanggal 27 November 1974, Gegana was officially established who have main duty as Counter Terrorism, hijacking also hostage  rescue.

Main duty of Gegana at that time was helping kadalops VII metro jaya in operational police task.
