SURVIVAL GUIDE FOR ACTIVE SHOOTER INCEDENT

Active shooter is an individual actively engaged to kill anyone or attempt to killing people inside the occupied building or structure or out side the population area, in most cases there is no pattern or specific method for selection the victims. Active shooter incident is unpredictable, it’s very important to prepare evacuate route quickly if there’s kind of incident, make a practice to identify possible escape route in your area, or you have a plan in mind even you are just visiting the facilities.

If there’s incident in your location you must find reasonable location to hide or to find cover , you must determine the best action for you to safe your life, hide or evacuate your self out from danger. Call for help ( police ) when you safe to do so, if there is accessable escape route, attempt to evacuate you should leave your belonging behind, help other to escape if possible, warning individual not to enter the area where there active shooter may be, and follow all the instruction of any police officers, if evacuate is not the best action,

find place to hide where the shooters less likely to find you, and make sure you are not trapped on your hiding place, and you must consider the different between cover and concealment, cover will protect you from the gun fire, concealment will hide you from the view of the shooter. If you are caught in the open and you can not conceal your self or take cover, you may consider to over power the shooter, grab anything to use to fight back the shooter you may take scissors, knife, or what ever mean available. To protect your hiding place lock the doors if you can, lock the doors with heavy furniture, hide behind large item such as cabinet or under the desk remain quite, silent your cell phone, when you call for help/ police make sure you tell the location of the incident. If possible there are multiple active shooter, description of the suspects and number of weapons use by active shooters, and give information about potential victim caused by the active shooter. When the law enforcement arrived at the scene their primary goal is to eliminate the threat, and stop the shooter as soon as possible. First responder can not assist the wounded before the environment are safe, knowing what is to expect will help yo to calm and allow the law enforcement to quickly neutralize the threat, the officer may come with a team,equipped with tactical gears such as helmet, vest, rifle, and ballistic shield. You need to follow their command from the shouting law enforcement even you will be pushing to the ground it’s for all safety, its very important if you run out from the scene you raise your hand to the air and open wide and keep hands visible all time. Do not make sudden movement, do not pointing, no screaming or yelling. Put down any items immediately raise your hands, spread your fingers, stay calm, and follow all the instructions, do not stop to ask the officer for help on the evacuating .
